My name is Anuoluwapo Okunawo, and I am a 4th year Biology student on the premedical track with a minor in Liberal Studies and a concentration in Applied Cultural Thoughts at the illustrious North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. Throughout my time at the #1 Public Historically Black University, I have honed my academic skills and achieved numerous milestones, including making the Dean’s and Chancellor’s List a plethora of times, being in several executive boards, and having over 100+ service hours.
Beyond academics, I am passionate about dancing and singing. I take pride in having the opportunity to be a dance captain for two years for the amazing AfroElites Dance Team, an attachment to the African Aggies Coalition (AAC). I have been fortunate to engage in things relating to my major and also not relating to my major. Those things include have an internship with MDB Inc., expanding my knowledge in science communication and also mentoring young Black girls. These things and more, have enriched my personal growth and contributed to my journey as an aspiring leader.
As I continue to explore my future, I aspire to become a General Surgeon. My passion for medicine, combined with my drive to make a difference in the lives of others, fuels this aspiration. I believe that as a surgeon, I will be able to serve communities, provide life-changing medical care, and empower others to take control of their health.
I am deeply committed to advocating for mental health, Black people and our community, education, and community outreach. I am excited to continue building on my education and experiences to make a positive impact in the world.
